Crinkle leaf plant, also known as key lime pie, this uniquely formed succulent hails from South Africa. Its blue-green, wedge-shaped leaves are topped with a wavy ridge, reminiscent of a crinkle-cut French fry, and sport a lightly fuzzy texture. Hardy and easy to grow, the loose rosettes and offsets of this succulent can form a clump up to 18 inches tall and wide, making it a substantial addition to any planter or rock garden. For those who live below Zone 9, however, be sure to bring this plant indoors during the cooler months, as its chubby leaves are susceptible to frost damage.
It thrives when given plenty of bright light, ample airflow, and porous soil with adequate drainage. Preferring slightly less water than many succulents, make sure to allow the soil to dry all the way through before watering again to avoid issues such as rot that can stem from overwatering.
This succulent will bloom in the spring to summer months, showing off tubular white flowers atop a long green stalk. Despite its fun appearance, it is toxic to people and animals, and should be kept away from curious children or pets.

Succulents love light — it’s their favorite energy source.
Place them where they can enjoy 4–6 hours of bright, indirect sunlight each day.
Morning sunlight is best; avoid harsh afternoon rays that can cause sunburn.
Less is more. Succulents store water in their leaves, so overwatering is the main reason they die.
Wait until the soil is completely dry, then water thoroughly until it drains from the bottom — “soak and dry” is the golden rule.
Good airflow keeps your succulents healthy and prevents rot.
Avoid closed or damp environments; gentle wind and breathable soil are their best friends.
Succulents prefer a mild climate — ideally 60–80°F (15–27°C).
They can handle cool nights, but protect them from frost and extreme heat.
Choose well-draining soil with plenty of perlite, pumice, or coarse sand.
A pot with a drainage hole is a must — roots need to breathe too.
Succulent care is about balance — sunlight, air, and patience.

Leaf Propagation
• How: Twist off a healthy leaf cleanly from the stem. Let it dry 1–3 days until the end calluses. Lay on dry, well-draining soil; don’t bury. Mist lightly every 3–5 days.
• When to water: Only after tiny roots/bud appear; then water sparingly.
• Light: Bright, indirect light.
• Timeline: Roots 2–4 weeks; baby rosette 4–8 weeks.
• Don’t: Don’t pull with a tear (half leaf fails), don’t keep soil wet.
Stem Cuttings
• How: Cut a healthy stem (5–10 cm). Remove lower leaves. Air-dry/callus 2–5 days. Insert into dry succulent mix. After 5–7 days, mist edges of soil.
• Light: Bright, indirect light; avoid harsh noon sun.
• Timeline: Roots in 2–3 weeks; new growth in 4–6 weeks.
• Tip: Use clean tools; optional rooting powder.
• Don’t: Don’t water immediately; don’t plant before callus forms.
Offsets / Division
• How: Gently expose the base, wiggle offsets free with some roots attached. Let wounds dry 1 day, then pot separately.
• First water: 3–5 days after repotting, small amount around edges.
• Light: Bright light; acclimate to sun over a week.
• Timeline: Resumes growth in 1–2 weeks.
• Don’t: Don’t yank and break the core; don’t overpot (use snug pots).
1. Prepare:
Use a slightly larger pot and well-draining succulent soil.
2. Remove:
Gently take the plant out with its roots and soil together.
Do not cut healthy roots.
3. Inspect:
Trim only black or rotten roots and let them dry if needed.
4. Repot:
Place in the new pot, fill fresh soil around, keep same height.
5. Aftercare:
Keep in bright shade for 2–3 days, then water lightly.
Resume normal care after about a week.
